TAG Heuer used the Seiko TC78 movement as a base for their Calibre 1887 Carrera model because they had acquired the European production rights to it in 2006. The engineers in La Chaux-de-Fonds then extensively reworked and re-engineered the design, creating a unique movement while still benefiting from the robust and versatile base of the TC78.
